Washington D.C.
I had the privilege this week of traveling to our Nation’s Capitol for a work trip. After dinner on Monday, a group of us decided to go walk the National Mall. The last time I visited the monuments was in high school with my mom, but 12+ years later it felt like an entirely new experience.
It’s overwhelming to pause at the statues and monuments chronicling some of the most significant people and events in American history. It’s a reminder that that the government and this country is so much bigger than any one person.
It’s also incredibly magical to explore the monuments at night. We were so lucky for beautiful weather and very few people that we got to have many of the monuments almost to ourselves. I feel fortunate to have been able to document some of these amazing scenes and capture the moments in a way I wasn’t able to as a teenager.
Tuesday night after the rain disappeared I ventured out on my own to explore more of the city. White House, Capitol, Newsroom, and so much more!
I cannot wait to come back with my family to explore more of this city and gain new experiences and perspective and appreciation to be an American <3
